Summertime in New YorkPosted: July 24, 2009
Sorry I have been amiss in writing, but as you would understand, not having any school activity, and being totally hypnotized by the cool summer weather, I have found very little to rant about regarding education.
In the NEWS: Brooklyn Free School has a fundraiser coming up this Sunday. Briana Carlson-Goodman, Justin Flagg, Matthew Gelfer, at BAX (Brooklyn Arts Exchange)421 5th Avenue
between 7th and 8th Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn. $20 suggested donation. Bring your checkbooks for additional donations.
The bio: Justin Flagg and Matthew Gelfer are The New Students, a local NYC band who perform original songs and covers in an eclectic blend of folk, roots and alternative traditions. Joining them is Briana Carlson-Goodman, currently performing in the Tony Award winning Broadway revival of Hair.
Brooklyn Free School (BFS) is a K-12 independent democratic free school that opened its doors in the fall of 2004. At BFS students follow their passions and take charge of their own learning with the assistance and guidance of its nurturing and talented staff. 80% of the student body receives partial to full financial aid. The school has found its dream building in Clinton Hill, and has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise the money to buy the building and assure the continuation of the school for future generations.
Other than that it is just time to chill as work is slowing down, the economy is dying and I am back at the drawing board, things just keep moving along. I am awaiting a bold guest blogger to step forward.
