Tea Bagging and such.

Not feeling very ponderous this morning, but given the need to write something, I sit before you to tell you something, I know nothing about. That last part coming from a popular rhyme I learned when I was young. Another segment goes like this:

Last night, an empty car full of people, ran over a dead horse, and nearly killed it.

Now there must be a reason that my thoughts have wondered over to this innocent piece of absurdity. Every where I go or look or read these days, there is something about an ugly development in our national landscape. The Tea Party. It is an alarming development in our nation. To my eyes, this Tea Party seems to be composed of the insane human condition known as “working-against-my-own-self-interest-because-that-I-am-a-complete-idiot!”

From Bill Maher:

“The problem with the tea party movement, besides their almost universal rejection of dentistry, is that they want money for nothing and chicks for free. They want a deregulated free market and their jobs to stay here in the US; they want guaranteed health coverage regardless of preexisting conditions without a big government mandate; they want to call themselves teabaggers and people to keep a straight face. And of course they want big tax cuts along with deficit reduction. I can’t even think of a suitable analogy for that disconnect–it’s like thinking getting a handjob will clean your garage.”

It seems that I have been calling them tea baggers myself. Tea Bagging refers, if you do not know, to a kind of sexual foreplay where a male human lowers his scrotum onto the face of an undisclosed recipient. I say it is undisclosed here, because the need to be aroused by such a ridiculous act should make anyone engaging in tea bagging, not want to admit it to anyone. I get the feeling that this is what Sarah Palin and her Nazi youth are attempting to enact on the rest of the population.

We are in a time where great things are needed to be undertaken, in order to save our nation. This blog focuses on education, but this blogger also educates himself on related topics. Currently I am reading Van Jones “Green Collar Economy.” In this book, Mr. Jones expresses his feeling that we are on the edge of a new frontier. A new revolution. One in which we can save the environment, move toward cleaner energy alternatives, and turn around the disparity between wealth and poverty, all in the same motion. All while creating a new model for a boom economy. Education has the same issues. The need for health care reform, education about diet, awareness about the crazy things our politicians are influenced by, and the strong hold of religion on the masses has made for a very disturbing, and non hopeful attitude toward the human race. It is social and environmental apartheid, in that it relates to the fact that racism, and class division, have figured into eduction, environmental issues and social and political awareness.

The other day I took a moment to watch a TED video of Jamie Oliver, formerly known as The Naked Chef. [ http://www.ted.com/talks/jamie_oliver.html ] In this speech Jamie is laying out the landscape as to how we have become divorced from the food we eat. So much so, that the obesity rate among children has become alarming. In the video, he shows a classroom of children some common fresh food items (a potato) and it seems none of the children can identify them. Why? Because fast food and processed food have so taken over our lives, that there are many in our popution who do not know what a home cooked meal should look like. How this carries over into school lunch rooms, is Mr. Olivers’ mission and I support it.

This week, I also had the occasion, because work was a little slow, to spend a little more time in the mornings at the school. It seems that as I get older, I am inspired more and more to be around children. Especially in an environment where they are allowed to be what they are, without the ridiculous encumbrances laid upon them by this silly cultureless landscape which has given birth to such STUPID things like Tea Partiers and Tea Baggers. It seems that there is a cosmic law that with every motion, must come its’ opposite. The Tea Party is everything I deplore. It is ignorant, dumb, stupid, idiotic, dumb, stupid, dumb, toothless, illiterate, fat, dumb, stupid… did I make my point? Criminals have run rampant in our society without restraint, and we should say, bravo?

This all started this week when a close friend of mine, returned from a sales trip to Maine, where he told me he was inundated by people speaking about the Tea Party. How we need to get rid of Obama. That he is a socialist. You mean to say that having 8 years of Bush was a good thing. Where we had an administration that dismantled our infrastructure, turned a surplus into a massive deficit, engaged us in an endless war abroad against an unspecified enemy, widened the disparity between rich and poor and sent the middle class into unemployment, bloating and crashing the housing market, and on and on and on. And Obama is trying to at least create policies that may help people. Yes people. That is what we should be trying to do. Corporations need to come down off their socio pathic stupor and realize that their own existence is imperiled, long term, if people suffer as a result of their blind actions. Their blind pursuit of profit beyond any reasonable need. To hoard the riches for uses that are nothing but folly while the treasury of this country goes bone dry. And we pay taxes because…?

The picture of a nation that has descended to a level of stupidity, such as George W. Bush was the figure head, is frightening. But I do have hope. America has always been industrious and inventive when crises arose. During World War II, the nation mobilized to build the battleships and aircraft needed by the military. It is credited with lifting us out of the Great Depression. Well folks, we are in another world war. One in which our hearts, minds and bodies have been taken captive by ignorant and greedy forces. But we can turn this thing around. There are as many innovative thinkers attempting to help move our country in a positive direction. One them is our president, whether you agree with him or not. He is making ATTEMPTS. And we can all do our own small part to help.

Now I am going to get down and do 10 push ups!
