Are Charter Schools Really the Answer?Posted: October 7, 2010
From the Daily News: Local charter schools like Harlem Success is big business as millions are poured into marketing
The above article was briefly alluded to in my previous post. I have to admit that I hardly read it when I first posted the link. Now that I have, I am appalled at what it suggests. That charter schools are another way for sleazy politicians to funnel money to their pet causes, and ultimately in the vicinity of their own pockets. When one wonders where all the money that got poured into Iraq went, we can look no further than multinational arms dealers and other contracted services which have profited immensely. so much so that it can be assumed that they have basically emptied the US treasury.
When comes to special interests in education, and you begin to ask, where all the money goes, you can look City Councilwoman Eva Moskowitz, who reportedly spent over $1,100 per child. this includes the 1.5 million spent on a marketing campaign for her group of charter schools called Harlem Success. This is a staggering statistic when you compare it to the expenditures of the average public school student.
My only response is: PLEASE SEND US MONEY TOO.
